What is included in the Treasure Camp rental package?
We deliver a complete, ready-to-go treasure hunting setup directly to your group, which includes:
6 Complete Units: High-quality, fully waterproof metal detectors.
Heavy-Duty Gear: Six 4-foot sand scoops for easy digging. (small plastic hand held sand scoops are also available)
Finds Bags: Six dedicated mesh bags for campers to collect their beach discoveries.
Do you provide camp counselors or guides for the day?
No. We train your existing camp staff to run the activity. Our team provides a fast, 10-minute tutorial upon delivery. We teach your counselors exactly how to operate the detectors so they can confidently lead the campers.
Which Pinellas County beaches can we take the campers to?
You can take your campers treasure hunting to whatever beach you like. Since our metal detectors are 100% waterproof, your group can safely scout the dry sand, the wet shoreline, or the shallow surf at any local Pinellas beach.

The complete package costs $500 for a 5-hour rental. This flat rate includes the mobile delivery of all six setups, the counselor training tutorial, and equipment pickup at the end of your session.
How do we schedule a Treasure Camp activity for our group?
Dates during the peak summer vacation months fill up quickly. You can secure your day by booking directly through our website or by calling us to coordinate delivery times and beach locations.
Camp counselor training
🦺 Camp Counselor: 10-Minute Treasure Camp Guide
Keep this quick reference guide handy on the beach to keep your campers safe, engaged, and finding treasure.
⏱️ Minute 1–3: Power & Fit
Adjust Height: The detector shaft should let the search coil hover 1 inch above the sand without the camper slouching.
Arm Strap: Snug the arm cuff to reduce wrist fatigue.
Power On: Turn the unit on away from large metal objects like cars or beach pavilions.
⏱️ Minute 4–6: The "Perfect Sweep" Technique
Keep it Low: Keep the search coil flat and parallel to the sand. Do not let campers swing it like a golf club.
Overlapping Steps: Walk forward slowly. Sweep side-to-side, overlapping each sweep by half the width of the coil.
The "Beep" Factor: Listen for repeatable, solid beeps. Faint or choppy clicks usually mean deeply buried trash.
⏱️ Minute 7–8: Targeting & Pinpointing
X Marks the Spot: When a detector beeps, move the coil left-to-right, then front-to-back over the sound.
The Intersection: The exact center of that "X" is where the treasure is buried.
⏱️ Minute 9–10: Safe Scooping & Bagging
Scoop Placement: Place the tip of the 4-foot sand scoop 2 inches behind the marked spot.
Step and Sift: Step down on the scoop, lift, and shake it gently to let the sand drain out.
Bag the Loot: Drop the target into the Finds Bag. Always check the hole one more time with the detector before moving on.
⚠️ Quick Safety & Etiquette Rules
Waterproof Limit: The detectors are 100% waterproof, but campers should keep the units at waist height or lower. Do not submerge them completely in deep water.
Fill Your Holes: Teach campers to always kick the sand back into their holes so beachgoers do not trip.
